CMAK has prepared an Energy Efficiency Action Plan Template for Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) . Further CMAK is helping 29 ULBs who have received funds from 12th Finance Commission for Energy Efficiency to prepare the action plans.
Project Information
City Managers Association, Karnataka undertook a study in the year 2006 in association with Directorate of Municipal Administration to conceptualize the status of electricity consumption trends in Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) of Karnataka. Through this study it was observed that ULBs energy consumption rates are very high due to poor energy efficiency, inefficient O& M, and skills in energy sector. As a result, the electricity bills are significantly high. It is expected that energy service demand will accelerate further with industrialization, urbanization and an emerging consumer society. In addition to financial constraint, other concerns include environmental impacts of the consumption of fossil fuels.
Against this backdrop, CMAK as part of their continuing efforts to support ULBs is now focusing on implementing Energy Efficiency (EE) and Renewable Energy (RE) technologies for sound economics and environment.
Objectives of the project
To develop training modules for EE and RE and to conduct Investment Grade Audit for ULBs.
Dissemination of EE and RE Training modules to the Engineering staff of the ULBs of Karnataka.
To prepare IEC materials and action plan for implementing EE and RE projects for all ULBs
Preparation of standard bid documents based on modules
Development of monitoring system for implementation of EE and RE system
